Space Responsiveness Workshop & Exhibit Recap
Launching CATIE as the space track of California's aerospace industry alliance. On September 18, 2019, California Aerospace Technologies Institute of Excellence (CATIE) was introduced to the aerospace community at the Space Responsiveness Workshop & Exhibit held at the John P. Eliopulos Hellenic Center in Lancaster, California. Dr. Khalil Dajani, Executive Director of CATIE introduced the US Air Force Colonel Lawrence Havird of Edwards 412Test Wing, Dr. Richard Cohn, Chief Engineer of US Air Force Research Laboratory.
At the conference, State and federal government officials presented economic development briefings. Assemblyman Tom Lackey of California State Assembly, 36th Assembly District, Mrs. Donna Hill, California Senate District Representative of Senator Scott Wilk Office and Mr. Perry Finzel, Field Representative of Congressman Kevin McCarthy, and Mr. Ed Knudson, President of Antelope Valley College. Among the educational institutions were California State University Long Beach, University of California Los Angeles, California State University Bakersfield, California State Polytechnic University Pomona, and University of Southern California. Large crowd of participants attended the conference from in-space propulsion and aerospace organizations in California as well as exhibitors.
CATIE promotes the preeminence of California’s aerospace industry in the Greater Antelope Valley to explore emerging technologies and accelerate linking growing businesses and educational research institutions with defense Air Force industries. CATIE is a new aerospace legacy with a bright future to nurture and accelerate the growth of a vibrant entrepreneurial aerospace industries in the State of California and beyond.
